Join us in transforming agriculture through natural farming techniques, climate change initiatives, and our renowned workshops. Together, we can build a sustainable future for generations to come.

About Ulume Foundation

Ulume Foundation, founded by Avinash TGS, is dedicated to transforming agriculture through sustainable practices and natural farming methods. Rooted in the principles of “Belakina Besaya” (ಬೆಳಕಿನ ಬೇಸಾಯ), we aim to empower farmers with innovative, eco-friendly solutions to counter the effects of climate change.

Avinash TGS, a passionate farmer and mentor, leads this mission from his Banavasi plantation near Mysuru, where he conducts hands-on workshops and research to promote natural farming techniques.

Through the Ulume Foundation, we strive to create a sustainable future for agriculture, supporting farmers across Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu.

The Motto of the Trust is to uplift mankind & Society through the pursuit of Educational, Health & Social Services at the highest level of excellence.

Belakina Besaya
(ಬೆಳಕಿನ ಬೇಸಾಯ)

Belakina Besaya, or ಬೆಳಕಿನ ಬೇಸಾಯ, is a revolutionary farming method pioneered by Avinash TGS that emphasizes natural, sustainable agricultural practices. This approach is designed to work harmoniously with nature, reducing the reliance on chemical inputs and fostering long-term soil health and biodiversity.

Through Belakina Besaya farmers can achieve 22000 kgs of food grains in an acre / year with lowering their environmental footprint and ensuring that agriculture remains viable in the face of climate change. This method not only helps in conserving water and energy but also promotes the restoration of soil fertility, enhancing resilience against extreme weather conditions.

Belakina Besaya empowers farmers to create a self-sustaining ecosystem that thrives on minimal intervention while maximizing productivity.

Avinaash TGS (Managing Trustee) has written a book on “Belakina Besaya”. This book describes about basic principals of non chemical farming that leads to Belakina Besaya and describes about converting our land into Food Forest.

Banavasi Farm

Banavasi Farm is located in Huyilalu village limits near Mysore. The land had purchased 35 years back. Initial two years of the agriculture practices we used chemicals. Then after till today we have not used any chemicals. This was a beautiful journey we experienced in our farm. Now our farm has converted in to Food Forest.

In our Food Forest we have around 30 verities of crops that can yield every year. Ex. Coconut, arecanut, Mango, Sapota, Lemon, Banana, Drumstick, Papaaya, Crusted apple, Ramapala, Cherry, Fig, Wood apple, Black pepper, Orange, Misname, Amla, Tamarind, Guava, Cashwo, Karawanda, All species, Star fruit, Jamoon, Ckakota, Lakky, Goranti, Glirisidiya, Subabhul, Egg Fruit, teek, gajanimbe, promogranite, coffe, neem, codomom.

Food Forest Models

Food forest models are sustainable agricultural systems designed to mimic natural forest ecosystems. They integrate a variety of plants—trees, shrubs, herbs, and ground covers—that work together in a layered structure. Each layer provides a function, such as producing food, enriching the soil, or attracting beneficial insects. By combining diverse species, food forests create self-sustaining ecosystems that require minimal human intervention.

These models enhance soil fertility, conserve water, and improve biodiversity while producing a variety of edible crops. They are a resilient, long-term solution for sustainable food production, aligning with both ecological preservation and community food security.

About Weeds

Weeds are often misunderstood as undesirable plants, but they play a crucial role in ecosystems. Many weeds possess important medicinal properties, contribute to soil health, and provide food and shelter for various wildlife. They can help prevent soil erosion, improve soil fertility, and some even act as natural pest repellents.

In agriculture, certain weeds are indicators of soil conditions, helping farmers understand the health of their land. While they may compete with crops, managing weeds in a sustainable way can lead to healthier, more resilient ecosystems. Weeds, when properly studied and understood, can offer significant benefits to both nature and human life.

Climate Change Initiatives

The Ulume Foundation is committed to addressing the impacts of climate change on agriculture through education and practical support. We focus on raising awareness among farmers about sustainable practices and offer workshops to help them adopt climate-resilient techniques.
Our initiatives include promoting water conservation, agroforestry, and soil regeneration, as well as natural methods like crop rotation, organic fertilizers, and multi-cropping.
Our goal is to help farmers adapt to climate challenges and ensure their land and livelihoods can thrive for future generations.
